Bonjour, my lovely friends! I recently came across a really cool blog post called The Travel Tag by an awesome lady from The Netherlands, Anne, who was nominated by another amazing blogger, Jenny to write it. Anne kept the travel tag open for anyone who wishes to take it forward, and so I’m carrying on the legacy. Without much ado, I’ll jump right into the questions then 🙂
Where are you from in the world?
I’m from India. Born in the city of joy, Calcutta (now called Kolkata), I live and work in tech capital of India, Bangalore. Not unlike most people from Calcutta, I love good food, good books and travelling.
Have you been overseas? When / where?
I’ve been fortunate to have traveled overseas multiple times. The places that I’ve been to include Singapore, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Hong Kong, Macau, Athens, Santorini, New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Miami and Key West. Also, I’m all set to travel next week to France, Belgium and The Netherlands, so stay tuned for more travel tales coming your way.
Do you prefer summer or winter? Why?
I’m not a fan of either I guess. I love pleasant weather, when it’s neither too sunny, nor too chilly. That way you get to experiment with all kinds of outfits.
Summer or winter fashion?
That’s a tough one. I do love cute sundresses and floral prints for the summer. But donning winter outfits such as tailored coats, scarves and boots is cool too! The only flip-side to it is the extra baggage that you need to carry I guess. Lol.
Where is somewhere you would love to travel to?
That list is endless! Let’s see. Spain, Iceland, Italy, Switzerland, Morocco, Egypt, Ireland, Norway, Peru, Mexico to name a few.
Name your essential makeup items for the beach.
Sunblock most definitely. A little compact to hold it in place and some lip balm so they don’t get too dry in the sun.
Are you currently saving up for a trip?
Do you like/dislike travelling?
Name a place in the world you would love to shop.
Paris! I hope I can save up enough money for that too. Shopping in the outlet malls in the US is really awesome as well. I went crazy in Vegas and Miami! NYC is great for shopping too.
What is your favourite accent in the world to hear?
French. I love how they speak English!
How many countries have you visited?
8 so far, will be 11 on my trip next week 🙂
Why do you travel?
To live 🙂
Favourite city or country?
It’s a little difficult to name a favourite country. As for cities, I love NYC and San Francisco.
Most memorable experience abroad.
Travelling to Santorini was the most special experience I’ve ever had. It’s really one of its kind.
Best item purchased abroad.
Perfumes and cosmetics. And this cute little toffee box from Paris!
Advice for those who want to travel but think they can’t.
Do what your heart wants or else you’ll regret not having done them earlier. Carpe Diem, my friends 🙂
Preferred method of travel: planes, trains or automobiles?
Trains are way more enjoyable.
Top three travel items.
My passport, phone and eye mask (so I can sleep anywhere)
Hostel or hotel?
Hotels or Airbnb.
Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?
I wouldn’t mind revisiting some of them for sure. But new places do take precedence.
Can you recite your passport # from memory?
I actually can. Lol 🙂 But that’s just because I have a good memory.
Do you read up on your destination for culture history or safety or do you just wing it?
Read up on everything there is about the place. After all, I wouldn’t want to miss out on any experiences in the place I’m visiting.
Where would you recommend a friend to visit and why?
Santorini, cos it’s out of this world!
You’re leaving tomorrow and money is no option, where are you going?
A world tour, definitely!
Favourite landmark you have visited?
I’d have to say Ground Zero in NYC where the Twin Towers used to be. The place and the eerie silence around gives me goosebumps. The sheer magnanimity of the gaping craters left in the ground where the buildings used to be, hits you hard, really hard.
Beach holiday or travel/explore holiday?
Why not both 🙂
Oh boy! This was so much fun! And now it’s time for me to nominate others who can carry on the travel tag forward. I’ve named a few folks here, but I’ll keep it open for anyone else who wishes to do this too. Hope you had fun reading this!
